Pours cloudy amber with off white head. Caramel and bread dough aromas with some earthiness. Biscuit and earthy flavors with a tart, dry finish. Some peppery spices. Light to medium body with crisp carbonation. This was much more like a saison to me.

750ml bottle. A saison that reveals a variety of flavors and aromas as you slowly sip it. Cloudy amber body below a big, frothy off-white head that lasts. The nose is yeasty with earthiness and barnyard. That’s balanced with floral/perfume hops and sweet malts — toasted grain and caramel. Notes of spice, especially clove and cinnamon as well as hints of apple cider and alcohol. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and moderately bitter. Moderate acidity throughout. The finish is moderately sweet, heavily bitter and slightly sour. Medium body with a velvety texture and lively carbonation. What’s so enjoyable about this beer is its complexity. Very well crafted.

750 ml bottle. Opened with a bang. Aroma is a bit dusty with light stone fruit. Color is a rich reddish amber, like overripe apricot. Decent beige head. Strong sweet fruit aroma as the glass approaches the lips. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is dry, woody, dusty light stone fruit - apricot, peach, nectarine. It’s a bit spicy, and there might be cardamom. It seems a tad astringent. Finish is quite dry with a decent level of floral/fruit bitter. Goes down a treat.

This 2004 vintage is courtesy of Degarth. It pours a light dirty brown with white head. The aroma is nice and melded with smooth smelling fruitiness like dates along with mild spices. It is tough to discern the aroma due to how well melded the notes are at this age. The taste has a sustaining mild tartness mixed with prunes, raisins, amped with above average carbonation. The taste is just as well integrated and melded as the aroma and tough to pick apart. Wow, very easy drinking and smooth.
