Barrel-aged in Woodford Reserve barrels. Brooklyn Black Ops does not exist. However, if it did exist, it would be a robust stout concocted by the Brooklyn brewing team under cover of secrecy and hidden from everyone else at the brewery. Supposedly, "Black Ops" was aged for four months in bourbon barrels, bottled flat, and re-fermented with Champagne yeast, creating big chocolate and coffee flavors with a rich underpinning of vanilla-like oak notes. They say it’s vanishingly rare. We have no idea what they’re talking about.

Bottle. Pitch black body with a frothy tan/brown head, Big aroma (as expected) of bourbon, chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, oak, coffee. A hint of soy sauce. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Full body, velvety/oily texture, soft carbonation. Lots of bourbon and oak in the taste tempered by bitter roast, coffee, chocolate. Lighter taste of dark fruits, licorice. Peppery alcohol at the end. Thanks Jennifer.

Bottle. Bourbon, chocolate malt and grass aroma. Dark black-brown with small head. Extremely strong bourbon flavor dominates - light coffee, chocolate malt, and hay flavors. Light body. Tastes more like bourbon and water - beer takes a back seat in this one.

Bottle: (2012) Pours black.....with a thick, creamy, light brown head. Spicy bourbon, chocolate and vanilla aroma. Flavour is woody, bourbon, licorice, vanilla....a little yeast. Astonishingly light and smooth drinking for the huge heft and flavours..... Really creamy, a slight alcohol warmth. Worth the high price and the long wait while it aged.... Truly an excellent beer.....

Bottle at the Cads 10th Anniversary bash, 2012 vintage thanks to Daniel, 29/03/15. Black with a decent tan covering that retains well. Nose is rich chocolate, dark fruit rinds, dates, light spice, charr, suggestion of alcohol. Taste comprises mellow dark fruitage, molasses, chocolate pudding, toffee fudge. Medium + body, soft to oily mouthfeel, lightly warming alcohol in the close. This one exceeded my expectations, xolid impy action.
