Old red puts a ruff twist on a new ale. Copper red in colour with a nice malty nose to mouth with just the right amount of hops to make the old boy jump.
When you snap open an expertly-crafted brew from Bad Dog Brewing Company, you can expect a rush of tasty flavour to slake a doggone might thirst.

Poured from 473mL can. Hazy copper with small white head. Chewy bread and toffee malt. Nothing special, but inoffensive.

Dark amber, with a medium head. Chewy and phenolic nose...temp control not optimal. On the palate those phenols mess things up because it’s otherwise got some decent chewy malts.

On tap at Mad Dog, pours a clear copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma is very malty, with bready malt, toasted caramel and some cardboard. Flavour is dry, with bready malt, a hint of caramel and old hops. Old red indeed - it's not very fresh and lively, but not too bad.

Can bought from the little brewery shop on the north edge of Sooke. Nice brown body pour, a bit of carbonation and okay foam on top. Them bones, man! Vegetably malts on the nose, not too appetizing nor exciting. Flavour is amber malts with nothing more, crackery jack et cetera medium biscuit. A bit thin on the mouth. Okay amber-ish ale, rather boring, they got better stuff on offer.
