Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Farmstead® ale is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur.

Tap at Fermentoren CPH. Poured a hazy golden colour with, a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is big funky yeast. The flavour is moderate to strong sour, with a fresh, crisp, acidic, yeasty, tart fruits, light herbal palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle with thanks to Vin! Pours slightly hazy yellow yellow, small white head with decent residual. Aroma is full of HF bugs and yeast, piney cascade, earthy funk. Flavor is delicately tart, light funk, bright, citrus and piney notes overlaid with typical HF funk. Medium light body, soft silky mouthfeel. Quite excellent; an improvement on an already world class beer.

Bottle from the Hill. Pours very golden, medium puffy white head, dissipates to nice residual and lacing. Aroma of citrus, grass, slightly funky Brett notes, pine resin. Flavor is lightly tart, dry, hints of funk, mineral water, citrus, pine and Brett. Light body, soft mouthfeel. Solid, but I think I like the "regular" version a bit more.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden butterscotch, large puffy white head, slow to dissipate and leaving lots of clingy lacing. Light aroma overall, with citrus, fresh cut grass, floral and slightly funky notes. Flavor is lightly tart, citric, lots of field of flowers flavors, a bit of white pepper, nice and fruity with a very light funkiness that comes on later. Medium body. Surprisingly not as soft and smooth as I normally expect from HF on the mouthfeel, but otherwise exceptional.

Bottle shared at Moor Beer Vaults - Bermondsey. Pours lightly hazed gold with a fluffy, white head. Lovely beer, clean, with mellow funk, dashes of salt, subtle juicy citrus, minimal bitterness. Light bodied with delicate, massaging carbonation. Lightly tart finish, background acidity, more lemony nips, mild salty bite. Outstanding.

Bottle shared at CBC one of Nate’s last nights. Pours hazy yellow-gold with a large, frothy white head. Lovely aroma, all yeast, lemon and dough. Light to medium sweet flavor, some doughy bread, light spice, light bitterness, yeast, faint citrus. Light bodied with average to lively carbonation. Clean, fresh, bready finish, some mild yeast, light lemon and citrus rind. Just a damn good saison. Doesn’t try to blow the top off. Just makes it do what it do, baby. (February 2012, score: 4.4)

Bottle shared in London. Dry Hop Styrian version.
