Pours deep hazy amber into a snifter. Off-white head with medium retention leaves spots as it recedes to mottle surface. Sweet dark pine aromas. Sharp bitter resin and pine from front to back turning slightly to grapefruit in the lasting finish.

12 ounce bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham, NC. Pours a brownish orange color, hazy with large floating particles. Medium creamy white head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is typical SImcoe hops... earthy and herbal with lots of fruit notes including mango, citrus and peach. Taste is bitter hops with tropical fruit notes with a bit of maltiness in the background. Medium bodied.

(Bottle) Cloudy brownish amber colour with a lasting, frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with orange marmalade, dried apricots and citrussy hops. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of orange marmalade, grapefruit, pine needles, caramel and lots of fresh, citrussy, piney hops in the finish. More aromatic than bitter though. Slightly above medium body, fairly dry. Another tasty and hoppy beer from Mikkel. Very nice.

Courtesy of Blazer06. Pours copper with gold edges and white head. The aroma is dusty citrus tangelo and spicy hops along with mild sugary malts. The taste is much the same with a mix of spicy hops and tangelo like sweet to bitter citrus hops. Into the finish a mild pulse of sweet malts and grains seem to gain traction for a few moments.

Bottle. When I poured the beer into the glass a large and white foam was formed. The color was orange and rather cloudy. The aroma offered mainly pineapple, apricot, alcohol and some herbs. . Really inviting and pleasant aroma, crisp, yet soft. The taste, yes also it contained pineapple and apricot, but also a lot of grapefruit and a little sweetness. Bitterness was sharp, the aftertaste lingered long. Clearly, a nice beer.

Location: 11.2 oz bottle from State Line, 8/25/09
Aroma: Fresh citrus, grapefruit hops, some grass, bit of yeast
Appearance: Hazy orange-amber color, big and creamy off-white head, some spotty lacing
Flavor: Bitter hop flavor dominates this one, some spice, upfront a touch of caramel malts: but they're overpowered by hops
Palate: Long duration, dry, acidic, solid mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This is a pretty darn bitter beer. It has one heck of a nice nose, a big bitter flavor, you can really taste the Simcoe in here. A nice juicy hop flavor beer.

Bottle from beermerchants.com. Pours a clear orangey-brown colour(rather like honey) with a blink then you miss it head, I noticed a fellow rater a bit further down noted a ’long lasting head’, mine didn’t last. Must of been the way I poured it!. Wonderful aromas of pineapple, oranges, grapefruit. Citrus bursts all round in the flavour. The mouthfeel is damned fine and the finish wonderfully hop heavy!

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty brown color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of bitter and somewhat citrus hops with a very perceptible malt base. Taste is dominated by floral piney notes with some astringent notes and a dry caramel malt base underneath it all. I can understand why people sometime qualify this as the cat pee hops. Body is quite full with limited filtration and great carbonation. Very well done though the Nugget is still my favorite.

Nice bright orange color, off white head. Aroma of Pine Sol, but in a good way. Even, balanced bitterness with a dry finish. Nice.
