On tap at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. (as Single Hop Simcoe IPA) An almost clear beer of golden color. Wonderful citrusy nose with pineapple, pinecones and resin, as well as a good maltyness. In the mouth too, the hops dominates, but it has enough malty sweetness to give it some balance. Citrus, pinecones, pineapple and resin from the hops. Full-bodied, almost astringent bitter and teeth cleaning. Long hoppy finish. A really pleasant one, at least in smaller quantities. All night? Don’t think so. (080912)

Amber with a small white head. The simcoe is certainly up front, with pine and citrus aroma, and notes of apricot, pepper and grass. Dry and hoppy flavour with a fruity note. Very bitter with a lasting hop flavour.

Sampled from tap as Single Hop Simcoe IPA at EBF 08. Bright amber body with a beige patch. Plain and strong aroma of hops. Ditto robustly, hoppy taste with pine and grapefruits. Bittersweet finish is tingling to the throat. A bit over the hoppy top, but, nonetheless, pleasant to drink (13.09.2008).

Had this at EBF Kobenhaven 12-09-08. tastes really quite curly tangy with really good citrus hints nice tangerine blast but layered with grapefruit pithiness wonderfully tangy and a very nice beer. A8 A4 F8 P4 Ov15 3.9 Had this again. Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam, consumed at Kemmel campsite, Belgium, 09-06-09 Had this in the Mikkeller Single Hop tasting with Nelson Sauvin, Warrior, Simcoe and Cascade all up for the taste off. This poured hazy amber which really was the case for all of them, white and fluffy head looked perfect. Some grapefruit and pithiness but not as punchy as expected, citrus flows with a honey sweetness to carry it. The bitterness lingers, its a little dry, not the impact that I expected but really good stuff and despite my forgetting that I’d had it before in Copenhagen, this improves its score ever so slightly. Tap at EBF: Unclear orange with a white foam. So fruity & fresh. Peach & pine. Lots of flavor. Super crisp & lasting bitterness. Nice!

Draught at EBF 08. Juicy malt. Just absolutely fabulous. My favourite hop, plus these juicy malts and great hop sting with a mouthfeel of sherbert on the swallow. I had this quite a few times. 4.5/5 33cl bottle from BeerMerchants, thanks Phil l. Wow that aroma is pretty fantastic. The Simcoe’s make me go all crazy in the head. I am going to have to up the score by one. That is one sensational beer for someone who is a Simcoe crack head.

Medium white head. Orangey body. Intense citric catty hop aroma with orangey notes. Intense bitter chalky catty rubbery taste. Aftertaste is the same. Unbalanced, with only catty bitterness, and nothing else on offer. In order to become a balanced beer it needs to also have something pleasant in the taste. (0.3l draft at Pegasus, Copenhagen. Thanks to KnutAlbert.)

Light amber color, small white head. Very flowery-fruity aroma. Juicy, bitter, lots of grapefruit- Nice "hop juicy" aftertaste. Good, balanced well-made bitter IPA.
