The Monk’s Stout Dupont is part of the Brewery Dupont’s history. Indeed, it was produced in the 50’s. The aim is to revive this stout while maintaining the name and the design of the time.
Created in 2011, this dark beer is characterized by a dry and bitter taste. The use of roasted malts lends a well-pronounced taste of coffee and chocolate. The hop flavours remain perceptible though.
Top fermentation beer with a refermentation in the bottle.

Pours clear dark brown color with huge tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, light funkiness and mustiness, and Belgian yeast. Roasted malt flavor with Dupont house yeast. Lightly funky. Medium body with lively carbonation. Different and interesting take on a stout. I like it.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Hansen & Zita for this bottle! Dark brown to black-colored with a beige head. Aroma of some roasted malt, quite a bit of dark fruits (a bit caramelized) and some yeast. Roasty flavor, somewhat sweet, with malt, a bit of caramel, nuts and a bit of fruitiness. Medium-bodied. Not bad.

Bottle from Beers of Europe
Black, huge head, gusher, settled to thin off white bubbly head
Aroma - earthy roasted malts, very yeasty, bit of coffee, leaves, some burnt wood, not a great aroma
Taste - Roasted malts, yeast, soft burnt wood, bit smoky, some bitter chocolate, can’t say I’m a fan of this
Palate - soft carb, thin watery body, roasted palate, bit smooth, soft bitter roast. Finish as main flavour, soft roast finish.
Overall - Rather earthy yeasty stout and rather thin. Wasn’t all that impressed.

Black with a beige head. Aroma is light coffee, a bit of sweet malt, a touch of roast, and light chocolate. Medium, kinda chalky body. Flavor has light chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, a bit of earth. A bit lighter of a stout. Decent.

750ml bottle. Unfiltered brown-black, massive beige head. Lively carbonation bubbles rising to the top. Brown chocolate aroma, a little island pungency. Not unlike a Caribbean Stout in a lot of ways, but a touch more balanced. Very drinkable, well crafted. Doughy sweet brown chocolate tones, some caramel and some interesting yeast esters. An enjoyable beer.

Bottle in Bruges. Deep brown appearance with a brown head. Roasty, dark chocolate malty, earthy, light vanilla, slightly charred aroma. Burnt toffee, roasty dark chocolate malty, earthy flavor with a slight tanginess to it.. Decent.
