Thuis uit een flesje, na een leuke wandeling door ZuidOost (Groene wissel). Mooi oranje goud van kleur, aardig schuim. Prima biertje, niet heel uitgesproken van smaak.

Sampled from tap at Meibockfestival Amsterdam 2016. Clear, golden yellow with a white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly spicy aroma of caramel, honey, some vanilla and some clove. Sweetish-malty, slightly spicy taste of caramel, honey, vanilla and some clove, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately spicy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite okay.

Dutch spring bock, made with oatmeal. Thin and eventually disappearing, off-white, loosely structured head, colour a deep orangey ’old gold’, clear at first, lightly hazy in the end. Aroma of sweet honeyish malts, cider, damp cloth, cake dough, flowers, pear, hint of grass. Tastes sweetish, with primarily malt fruitiness but low in esters (is this bottom fermented?), bit caramelly, lightly grainy, restrainedly sweetish, soft and light mouthfeel with soft carbonation; finishes a lot more hop bitter than expected from this style, earthy, bit peppery and drying, lasting quite long. Bit unusual interpretation of the style, apparently trying to evoke the medieval ’koyt’ (unhopped spice ale) tradition which I usually tend to regard with a certain suspicion, but quite interesting and tasty.

Bottle. Slight hazy golden with white head. Sugary sweet malts, quite herbal with some honey and toasted bread. Medium sweetness with long lasting medium bitter finish. Medium bodied. The finish is a bit much, but not that bad.

Clear golden colour, large frothy slightly off-white head, diminishes slowly, good lacing. Sweet malty aroma, oats, tangerine, pear, floral. Taste medium sweet and bitter, fruity and grainy (oats). Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste mild bittersweet, herbal notes, nice.
