11th February 2014Bree Louise. Wooden Cask! An old looking one at that. Hazy amber beer, sparse off white bubbles. Palate is light and smooth and semi dry. Light and tangy dried fruits. Subtle touch of vanilla, but I am looking for it. Light toffee - caramel undertone. Honey. The dominant flavour here is tangy dried fruits.

From cask. Pours cloudyorange with a small white head. Aroma is toasted malty, roasted malty and light bitter. Dry, toasted malty and herbal. Bitter and light herbal hoppy into the finish.

Appearance: Clear copper color with a fine white head that leaves an ok lacing.
Aroma: Caramel malty, light fruity and mild hoppy.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweet and a mild bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Caramel malty with some fruity and hoppy notes.
Overall impression: Easy drinkable pub ale.

Cask. Copper amber colour, thin white head and fruity yeasty aroma. Taste is caramel malt with fruity nutty notes and a light dry bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, low carbonation. OK bitter.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#29. First tried many Moon Under Water's ago. Found this version to be a traditional session with a malt-hop balance, and hoppy-sweet taste.

On cask at JDW Market Drayton - Copper body with a nice white head. Aroma is not very powerful, but with enough effort you can just make out the fruity notes. Somewhat bitter taste and finishing with a pleasant bready taste at the end. Obviously, this is easy drinking, but, as others have said, this beer lacks any real complexity.

Hand-pulled pint in The Euston Way (a plastic pub) in Telford on 17 Nov 2012 as I wait for my transport to a beer festival. Dark gold/old gold in colour with a good covering of off-white foam as a head: lacing followed the beer down the UK sleeve it was poured into. Slight aroma of fruitiness and malt semi-sweetness, but nothing strong. The taste was as the nose: malty and fruity. I used to love this before I started to stretch my taste buds and bounderies: still a good example of a UK Best Bitter but it could be so much more with a little more care and alcohol content.
