Mithras has become a beloved cider for us. It's a stone fruit extravaganza, made with a boatload of Niagara grown Nectarines and Saturn Peaches. We added a few Mexican Vanilla Beans to round it out. This year's addition of Saturn Peaches has given it more complexity. Saturn Peaches (aka Donut Peaches) are flat, thick skinned (like a mango) and much more tropical in aroma. Mithras has loads of fruit character up front, with bright and lively stone fruit acidity. It's dry, tart, with a splash of vanilla as it finishes. It's what I want to crush these days. Made with 250g/L of stone fruit. Spontaneously fermented as per usual.

(500ml 2018 bottle from the Revel webshop, this vintage is cider and not perry and contains donut peaches as well as nectarines) Pours basically clear pale straw gold with nearly no head but nice bright bubbles. Aroma of crisp and quite tart yellow apple, nectarine, rich peach, sweet heady vanilla bean, pinch of white wine vinegar, slight tropical fruit undertone, wet and slightly sulphurous funk. Flavour is fairly high tartness with a mix of yellow apple, sour nectarine and sweet-tart peach, floral, tropical pineapple/banana smoothie hints for some reason, subtle sweet vanilla, soft fruit skin tannin, light funk, lactic creaminess into the finish. Light to medium body, good effervescence. A surprising cider for me, the vanilla was both more prominent and more sympathetic than I expected, bringing out the tropical undertones from the pit fruit.

Draft - Sweet and fruity. Clear light gold. Light and fruity with some tannin. Vanilla enhances the fruit but is not evident unto itself.

On tap at Farmhouse Fest 2018, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out tart nectarines, with some wild yeast. Flavour is along the same lines, with tart nectarines upfront, with wild yeast. Pretty flat carbonation with tons of tart nectarines. Not overly complex but it works.

A hazed blonde perry with aroma of tart pears, Epsom salts, sweet fruity esters, light Brett, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity pear with light acidity, light Brett, light lactic notes, Epsom salts, very nice and smooth. On tap at Brother's Beer Bistro.
