Surprisingly full-bodied for its ABV, a blend of four hops provides a complex flavour with hints of caramel and spice notes, the whole underpinned by subtle malty tones.

Cask at North Birmingham Beer Festival; slightly hazy light brown pour with white head, sweet malt aroma, taste’s a bit fruity with sweetness and a bitter finish.

Bottle direct from the brewery. Poured a relatively clear light brown with a white, short-lived head. There is a citrus aroma with a hint of spicy bitterness, more reminiscent of a dry hopped IPA. The hops combine well to produce a nice, flavourful refreshing bitterness. I’m not sure what hops were used but the floral taste dominates this ale and lingers around on the palate for a short while too. This is a quality session ale that’s different enough from most other English bitters to make it attractive.

500ml bottle. Pours golden with a small head. Aroma is bready malt and pineapple. Taste is bread and light fruity malt. Low bitter finish. Bottle conditioning needs work. --- Beer merged from original tick of Baskerville 3.5 on 09 Mar 2011 at 10:36 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. Original review text: Cask at the Mug House Inn, Bewdley. Poured orange gold with a small head. Aroma was mild orange and some soapiness underneath. It had a bitter fruit start and a strong bitter finish with bready malt on the aftertaste. Lot of body for the low strength. Cracking session bitter.
