American Amber Ale is the second-ever beer created by Rogue’s brewmaster John Maier back in 1988. This tawny amber brew with a toffee aroma, delicate roasted malt notes and smooth finish displays what beer judges call the “perfect embodiment of an American Amber Ale."
Ingredients: water, barley malt (Great Western 2-Row Malt, C40, C150), Cascade hops, Pacman yeast.

Tasty American ale, and not overly hopped. Mildly bitter, pours a dark copper colo writh faint head and lots of lacing. Very enjoyable if you don’t like a lot of hops.

24/03/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Ambrata, con riflessi vermigli, limpidissima, bel cappello di schiuma bianca, poco persistente. Aroma di malto, luppolo, leggero erbaceo, molto armonioso e gradevole. In bocca è abbastanza amara, luppolata, fresca, gradevole.

On tap @ Beer Temple. Amber color, clear. Off white head, lacing. Aroma’s: caramel malt, citrus, a hint of some sweeter fruit too (apricot?). Flavor is lightly sweet and rather bitter. Body is fuller than expected at 5.1%. Soft carbonation. Finishes bitter with some laurel. Quite nice.

Bottle @ home. It’s been ages since I’ve had last tasted this beer. Actually, not even sure if I’ve ever had it outside of one of Rogues brewpubs. Dark amber/brown appearance with a tan head. Nice sweet and toasty caramel malty, rich toffee, earthy/floral hoppy aroma. Toasty, a touch roasty toffee, a touch burnt, very light char, floral/earthy hoppy flavor. Nice beer!

650ml bottle. Pours a lovely amber with a very generous head and gentle bubbles - looks great! The nose has a cake mixture background note with some sultanas in the foreground and burnt raisins at the end. The taste has more of the cake mixture, then a biscuity finish. The palate is medium bodied, there is a tangy and creamy texture in the middle section and a dry refreshing finish. Overall, a bit flavoursome for an amber beer, not that I’m complaining.

355ml bottle @ Pannuhuone, Kuopio
Pours dark orange with a small white head. Aroma has notes of exotic fruits, berries, hops and caramel malts. Taste is quite fruity with notes of hops and malts. Finish is slightly sticky and fruity. Quite well balanced amber ale.
