American Amber Ale is the second-ever beer created by Rogue’s brewmaster John Maier back in 1988. This tawny amber brew with a toffee aroma, delicate roasted malt notes and smooth finish displays what beer judges call the “perfect embodiment of an American Amber Ale."
Ingredients: water, barley malt (Great Western 2-Row Malt, C40, C150), Cascade hops, Pacman yeast.

Bottle (Õllesummer 2008, Tallinn) - Copper brown/amber in colour. Hoppy aroma with some milk chocolate and grapefruit. Hoppy taste which is slightly tangy on the tongue at first. Grapefruit and lemon can be detected and it has a pleasant bitterness.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy amber with a creamy tan head. Malt and light woody hops aroma. Medium sweet first flavour impression followed by a mild breadish malt base and a solid fruity and wooden hops flavour. Goes solid bitter- and dryness into the finish. Solid, yet not much more.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 2 April 2008) Dark amber colour with brief, beige head. Fruity nose with caramel and fresh hops. Fruity taste with notes of fresh hops, caramel, dried figs and a balanced but distinct bitterness in the finish. Medium body, balanced sweetness. Nice and tasty, but doesn’t really stray too far from the expected.

Aroma is malty with bread and a little bit of coffee, also some light flowery and citrus hops and some licorice. Off-white head is average sized and disappears. Lacing is good. The color is a dark amber to medium red. Taste is not as good as the aroma. Sort of an IPA flavor profile with a bitter finish. Something in the aftertaste is a bit off. Pretty good.

Bottle. Japanese version (Red Fox). Pours cloudy orange with a big soapy, foamy head. Aroma is very faint. Hops, nothing much to speak of. Beautiful taste... hoppy and creamy.
