Cask at Bow Bar. pours jet black, lovely long-lasting beige head. Aromas of light coffee and milk chocolate. Taste brings a big liquorice note, alongside fruit in alcohol. Rich, creamy texture and long bitter finish. Very nice.

On tap at the Bow Bar winter beer festival. Appearance - opaque black apart from a lovely red chink at the bottom of the glass. Lovely crema head that stays. Beautiful. Nose - austere a hint of milk chocolate but generally a tight nose. Taste - chocolate and oranges. Some raisins in alcohol. A sticky fruit cake finish. Palate - large structure with a huge creamy texture and a relatively balanced finish m Overall - tasty big beer.

750 ml ceramic topped swing-topped bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown color with a small bubbly tan head that dissolves into a kaleidoscope of perfect swirls. Aroma has hints of roasted malt, dark fruits, Worcestershire sauce and alcohol. Sweet roasted malt flavor has complex notes of raisins, vanilla, resiny hops and an earthy yeast twang. Finishes with a chewy coffee-like lingering maltiness.

Cask @ St Albans Beer Festival 2013. Looks like an imperial stout should: dark yet approachable. Aroma of alcohol, espresso and single estate chocolate. The wonderful taste of sweetness combined with a slight saltiness. Silky mouthfeel. Grand beer overall.

750ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing, dark brown colour with small, frothy to macropore, diminishing, minimally lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma has notes of treacle, oak, vanilla, hints of alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty, notes of treacle, vanilla, a touch of coffee, oak and leather; hints of alcohol gain weight with the finish coming closer; soft carbonation, oily palate.
