Bottle: Deep ruby-amber coloured, presumably clear, small off-white foamy layer; sweetish nose of caramel, toasted malt and dried fruits; solid sweet and mildly bitter flavour, medium bodied, not very soft; slightly lingering sweet caramelly-fruity finish with a little bitterness. Nothing special…
Earlier Rating: 9/15/2012 Total Score: 3.4
Bottle: Clear, deep ruby-amber coloured, small and stable off-white foamy layer, moderate sweetish-fruity (dried fruits, what else) and caramelly nose, some bready and some hoppy aromas underneath; moderate to robust bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied; delicate traces of alcohol in the fruity (raisins) and bitter finish. Not really exciting, but quite nice....

Cask gravity at The Eels Foot Inn, East Bridge, Suffolk. Friday Christmas Day 25th December 2015 Pours a reddy brown colour with little or no head noted. Fruity, in fact a rich plum pudding fruitiness, sweet with a good maltiness and a little dry on the finish. Drinks very easy for the abv, it’s popular with the locals, I like this. Bottle from Beers of Europe at some ridiculously cheap price like £1.51 or similar. Consumed 25.09.10 Pours dark brown with a light beige head, looks glorious. Nicely bitter with toffee and dark demerara sugars showing mostly. Nice warmth coming through and dark toffeeness again showing. Top stuff, fed up of rating just want to drink it now. Bottle at home. 1 year old. Has a deep reddish brown color with a big beige head. Lots of dried fruit in the aroma along with heather, black currant, licorice, rubber and some chocolate. The flavor has more roasted malt, chocolate, dried fruit and wood. Has a silky and soft mouth feel, full-bodied and a light bitterness. A complex and tasteful winter warmer.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear deep reddish brown colour with a small beige head. High carbonation. Soft and sweet aromas of dried fruit, prunes, chocolate, rye bread, some roast, leather, oak, and sweet malt towards brown sugar. In the mouth I find hops, more dried fruit, sweet malt with caramel and brown sugar, and some roast in the end. I also find some licorice. A nice light bitterness with a slick and a bit watery mouthfeel. This is a tasteful and easy drinking beer, good balance and not too sweet.

330 ml bottle. 2012 vintage. 9% ABV. Poured in honour of the late, great John Lennon’s 75th birthday. We miss you John! Subtle roasted malt nose hints at dark dried fruit and brown bread. Bittersweet dark malts mixed with subtle smoky and dark toasted bread notes. For a barley wine, this is a touch light in body, but enjoyable nonetheless. Quite subtle; better as it warms. A real sipper. Imagine peace through beer and music!🍻🎶

Bottle, 2014 vintage, Alc 7.2% (from SIP, Tallinn). Pours dark ruby-brown with light brownish head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel, burnt sugar. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, malt, nuttiness. Alcohol is well covered, carbonation is on the low side. Overall: this brew is lost somewhere between English brown ale, English strong ale and barley wine, but I like it.
