On tap at the brewpub. Has a semi smokey barley aroma, sweet chocolate, weak coffee hints. Very blackish brown body and a bright beige head of minimal presence on top. Flavour is sweet barley with coffee notes. Crisp on the mouth but weak st the same time, could be fuller. Average at best, probably works for the local crowd but not a world beater.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black color. Roasty aroma, fireplace, burnt wood, burnt sugar, cookies. The mouthfeel is dry, the body is not very strong, roasted malt flavor.
Not Extra, but a pretty good roasty Stout.

Can - Dark roast, coffee and more milk chocolate. Jet brown with a small beige head. Smoke, roast and a thin bitter finish.

Dark brown, with not much head. There's some rich umami soy sauce, light chocolate, and mellow roast. There's a smokey note, a bit more of that umami, but it's actually a little bit thin, too. Touch of chocolate in the finish. There's some decent notes in here, but it's a bit thin – not imperial, not sessionable.

473mL can, pours a muky dark brown with a small tan head. Nose brings out dry toasted malt, earthy and a hint of cocoa. Flavour is along the same lines, with toasted malt, earthy notes, bitter hops, and dry cocoa. Bitter and not overly well-balanced. It's alright.

Tall can at Matt's. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malts with ash notes. Similar taste. Too roasty for me.
