Bottle 330ml vintage 2014
Thanks bierkoning! Hazy, murky brown color, small steady creamy beige head, even some lace. Sticky alcohol in the nose with wood and louds of toffee. Medium to full-bodied. Very sweet with all of this toffee - but in a good way. Strong alcohol in the flavor too. Bitterness is quite low. Should improve with the age.

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, caramel, and malt soup, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an almost opaque dark amber with a rough, off-white head. Rustic aroma of oxidized caramel and fruits. Rich body, some caramel and nuts with a very boozy finish. Rock’n’roll! 300514

Clear dark redbrown colour, good frothy tan head, collapses rather fast, some lacing. Sweet malty nose, brown sugar, raisin, chocolate, fruit syrup, cinnamon, some toffee, alcohol. Smooth sweet roasty taste, vanilla, syrup. Full bodied, roasty mouthfeel, oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish sweet and roasty, hint of bitterness, alcohol presence quite obvious but well-balanced.

(Draught at Jopenkerk, Haarlem, 27 Feb 2014) Reddish brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, dried fruit and hints of dark cherries. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, candy sugar and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Full body, well rounded mouthfeel. Fairly sweet. Tasty and quite well balanced for its strength. Nice one.

Aroma is a bit woody and has some gin-like boozy aromatics. Smooth texture and a rich, warming feel. Dry, woody, boozy, sweet.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra, Tiel. Copper colour with a small off-white head. Hoppy aroma with some caramel. Taste is bittersweet with some wood, oak, in it. The alcohol is present but very well hidden nonetheless. Although I love most Jopen beers and like this one it isn’t the best I ever had, the overall aroma and taste are not entirely to my liking. Still, this is a skillfully brewed beer.
