Dark brown with a cream coloured head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, ripe dark fruits, raisins, spices. Flavour is moderate to heavy caramel sweetness. Some hop bitterness in the finish. Pretty fine brew, I’m curious as to how this will age.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Oak, sulphur and dried fruit in the aroma. Malty sweet, oaky flavor with vanilla, dried fruit and lychee. Full bodied, alcoholic. Fairly complex, but still needs to develop.

Bottle. Reddy brown pour with a decent tan head. Nose had notes of booze, hops and caramel. Similar flavour with fairly prominent alcohol and quite robust bitterness alongside some dark fruit ,earth and wood notes. Decent stuff.

33cl Bottle into a ’Forbidden Fruit’ chalice at home on 19th June 2014. A little sediment left the bottle so the reddy/browny body had a mini-haze, just a thin wisp for a head. Good aroma of yeasts, malty molasses, alcohol esters and wine like smells. The taste carries on where the smells leave off, malty sweetness with yeastiness and wine flavours: full on alcohol in every sip. Good body feel to this rich and smooth brew: very drinkable and although you can feel the alcohol it adds to the enjoyment of this tidy Barley Wine.
