33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Bert’s Bierhuis. Light red brown with a beige head. Spicy aroma with lots of molasses and caramel. Taste is not as sweet as expected, quite bitter with chocolate notes in the finish. Aftertaste is also quite bitter and lasting. Great quadrupel!

33 cl bottle @ home. Clear, deep red-brown color. Big off-white head with long retention and good lacing. Aroma’s: caramel/toffee and red fruit nicely combined, with some spices/herbs (anise/laurel) retronasal, somewhat roasted & alcoholic. Flavor is medium sweet with tones of red fruit. Alcoholfeel is not too strong, body is medium (even on the thin side). Finishes somewhat dry, with a hint of bitterness. OK.

33cL bottle consumed at β€˜t Arendsnest on my Amsterdam trip in October 2011. Poured with a large head into a large wine glass. It slowly fades into a surface covering lacing. Good lacing on glass as well. Cololr of the body is a clear reddish dark brown. Aroma is sweet prune and alcohol with chocolatey liquor. Flavor is a bit watery with water chocolate liquor and present alcohol. The thinned out alcohol sits around a bit on the palate. Sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
Bottom line: a thinner quad with present alcohol and chocolate.

Clear dark brown beer, light reveals a dark amber hue. Yellowish head. Aroma of malts, lots of caramel, some liquorice (trekdrop), and prominent alcohol. Sweet flavour, slightly bitter, caramel, malts, slight liquorice, rather thin for a quadrupel. Nice finish, dry and bitter with some alcohol warmth. (From 30cL bottle)

Bottle from Bier Koning. Hazy brown beer, residual white head. Semi dry palate - a little frothy. Rich malt - a little aged tasting. Tint hint of fruit. Neutral finish. Pleasant enough.
