Dunkler, leicht alkoholischer Malzbeginn. 11/11/12/12/8/12

Absolutely fabulous imperial porter. Barrel aging is so smooth in this beer. There is a gently bourbon-y sweetness that hides the booze perfectly. Notes of bourbon and chocolate as well.

330ml can at the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, roasty, dry, oaky, light vinous, light cacao, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. Lots of boozy alcohol and oaky notes, but very little of the promised chocolate and none of the vanilla. Unbalanced and disappointing.

Bottled (vintage 2019, Alko, tnx oh6gdx). Opaque colour, tiny beige head. Roasted, bourbon, vanilla, licorice in the nose. Medium-bodied. Licorice, roasted malts, vanilla, wood, bourbon, warming alcohol. In excellent balance, aged gently. Great beer!

355ml can. Pours an opaque black with a small, creamy, short lived, tan head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, cherry, vanilla and oak in a dry, mild bitter, bourbon warming finish. Medium to full body with a sticky, oily texture and soft carbonation. Not a lot of complexity, but very well made and tasty. Excellent.

Thick, black and oily with a large foamy dark brown head that left good lacing malty and doughy eye cocoa, dark fruit and strong red wine. Very long finish. Full bodied.
