This beer is another one of those beers that has been around since our early years. Though, it has gone through some changes over time. We wanted to brew an American IPA. We wanted it to have and aroma from which you could pick up everything that you like with the style. To achieve this, we hopped and dry-hopped it with five, high alpha acid, American hops. And, almost by default, it got its name. High Five! Initially, this beer clocked in at 7.5%. But in order to make it a little lighter we took it down to 6.5.%. And, while the hops are still the same, we've increased the amount of hops and dry-hops numerous times. Because, times change. And, even though you got a hop-punch from this in 2007, the amount of hops in it then would not have given you one now. But since it's more, a lot more, you do!

Small off-white head over clear orange-copper, big-bubbled beer. Aromatic, fruity USA hops, sweetish but also a whiff of manure! (Passion)fruitsherbet, bit whey-like. Sweet, little or no bitterness, citrus and sweet exotic fruits. Cakebottom, slighlty toasted, hint @ caramel. Slight off-aromas are fast gone in the flavour, not reappearing retronasal. More carbonated than it looks; rather light body, some refreshing qualities. Not bad, but it could have stood a bit more hopbitter, I wager.

Keg tap at CBC Islington, 19/09/13. Lightly hazed golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is tangerine, orange sherbet, hop notes. Taste comprises light pine, orange pith, citrus fruit, solid hop profile, toasty malts, light caramel strains. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish with balanced hop bitterness. Decent enough IPA.

Appearance: Light hazy golden color with a white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Deep malty, hoppy and a bit fruity.
Palate: Medium body. Slightly sweet and a fine bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Rich caramel malt, fruity and rich hoppy.
Overall impression: A bit to much over to the sweet malty side. Otherwise a fine IPA.
Personal stats: Bottle from a trade with rlgk.
