BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red is a quaffable, well-balanced American red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup. To complement these flavors, we used three additions of Nelson Sauvin hops in the brewkettle and a unique blend of Nelson Sauvin, Citra, and Cascade for dry hopping. A hint of maple — including bigleaf maple — syrup in every brew perfectly complements the malty complexity, balanced hoppiness, and rich fall hue of BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red.

Bottle. A- Caramel, malty. A- Reddish color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Caramel, malty, spice. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, abrasive finish. O- A big let down. Could not taste any maple at all. Far from the best amber ale I’ve had.

Big beige head. Clear reddish brown body with light carbonation. Fruity spicy dark wood aroma with earthy sugary notes. Dry-sweet spicy perfumy roasted sugar taste with minty pine needle notes. Mid-to-thin body. Sharpish, slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Dry, almost acidic, wooden perfumy pine needle aftertaste with fruity candy and spice notes. Orangey background. Weird combination of flavours, and perhaps not entirely successful. (0.355l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Dark amber with generous head. Simple aroma, some paper and some vanilla. Dry mouthfeel, dry caramel flavor, traces of biscuity malts, strong bitterness; the final bitterness is a bit too vegetable (chicory-like).
And this is pretty much about it.

Riktigt gott.

Bottle. Great aroma with notes of currant seeds, caramel and grapefruit. Crisp, hoppy taste with a interesting bock-like maltiness. Notes of syrup bread, marzipan and currant. Pilslike bitterness. Elegant!

On tap at Tap East Stratford. Amber brown with a slight haze lasting near white head. Oxidised aroma. Some ok toffee caramel malt in the mouth not much hop on the finish. Flavour is better than the aroma. It’s got some ok fruit peel flavour a bit like an esb. Oxidised aroma is poor though.

Dobre i bardzo dobre zapach to intensywny aromat chmielu amerykanskiego, jest tak silny i intensywny ze az milo. Kolor bursztynu. Typowy dla amber ale. Jeden z lepszych piw swojego stylu jaki chyba udalo mi sie skosztowac. Piana spora, gesta zbita i trwala. Polecam to goryczkowo wytrawne i jakze aromatyczne piwo. Nie tylko na deszczowe jesienne wieczory.
