BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red is a quaffable, well-balanced American red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup. To complement these flavors, we used three additions of Nelson Sauvin hops in the brewkettle and a unique blend of Nelson Sauvin, Citra, and Cascade for dry hopping. A hint of maple — including bigleaf maple — syrup in every brew perfectly complements the malty complexity, balanced hoppiness, and rich fall hue of BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red.

Bottled, BB 8.2.2015, large sample. Clear amber color, medium frothy off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, hint of raisin, hint of spices, bit earthy hop. Quite malty in taste, bit bitter. Bit dry finish. Well balanced. It has this reddish malt feel all over it, which I try to describe with caramel and raisin. Decent stuff.

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Hazy red-amber with medium beige head. Aroma of piney hops, slightly stale, with earthy, woody and resinous notes, toast, caramel, malt and mild fruitiness. Flavor has some malty sweetness, a bit caramelly, with some toastiness, some fruitiness, a hint of maple, and pretty strong bitterness of piney, earthy and slightly citric hops, slightly stale. Medium-bodied. Pretty nice, probably better when very fresh.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Clear copper colour, rich creamy head. Lovely aroma of grapefruity hops, toasty malt and maple syrup. Mid sweet with solid body and firm, well rounded mouthfeel. Pine needles, maple syrup and light caramel. Piney somewhat resiny finish. Harmnious and elegant.

Flaska från SB. Djupt kopparfärgad vätska med fingerhögt skum. Doft av bränt socker, karamell, citrus och tallbarr. Söt smak som matchas av en torr beska. Kort eftersmak.

Bottle at home, thanks to a trade with Daddy Redmond, 07/12/13. Reddish amber with a big old off white head - an attractive looking beer. Nose is caramel, nutty, maple syrup, light metallic trace, apple skin. Taste comprises maple syrup, biscuit malt, toffee, fruit notes, sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, bitter sweet conclusion. Decent enough drop.
