BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red is a quaffable, well-balanced American red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup. To complement these flavors, we used three additions of Nelson Sauvin hops in the brewkettle and a unique blend of Nelson Sauvin, Citra, and Cascade for dry hopping. A hint of maple — including bigleaf maple — syrup in every brew perfectly complements the malty complexity, balanced hoppiness, and rich fall hue of BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red.

Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Slightly cloudy copper-amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, piney hops and slight maple. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle at Scion. Poured a dark ruby amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma was lots of sweet caramel notes, sweet maple character. Flavor was light malt, some nutty notes and maple.

Pretty happy red with a low enough maple addition to not take away from this. Light bitter finish. Pours amber with good head and lacing. Thanks to radagast. Bottle at scion.

A good amber. Substantial hop aroma aroma and dry flavor of hops and grain. Dry all around really, especially in the finish. Nice copper color and a substantial head. More of a pale ale really.

Bottle from Seijo Ishii. Nice hoppy nose--citrus and grass; a bit of caramel and maple syrup. Bright, glowing red, clear, with a high, fine head. Flavor is sweet caramel at first, somewhat soda-like fruitiness, then a lot of very earthy bitterness in the finish. Decent.

Bottle pour. Pours a copper color with a slightly sweet malty aroma. Really nice caramel like flavor with an expected touch of maple. Just a really good, super easy drinking, full of flavor amber beer here. Really enjoyed this one. Just plain good.

Lys brun tåkete med lavt hvitt skum. Svært fruktig, sydhavsfrukt og malt lett karamell. Søt smak av karamell og frukter. Kort bitter avslutning.
