BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red is a quaffable, well-balanced American red ale with character. Its malty complexity and coppery color come from a combination of two caramel malts, pale malt, and a hint of maple syrup. To complement these flavors, we used three additions of Nelson Sauvin hops in the brewkettle and a unique blend of Nelson Sauvin, Citra, and Cascade for dry hopping. A hint of maple — including bigleaf maple — syrup in every brew perfectly complements the malty complexity, balanced hoppiness, and rich fall hue of BigLeaf Maple Autumn Red.

It smells balanced. Nice hoppy aromas with ample malt backing it up.
Taste wise, it’s not as balanced as the smell as the bitter hops are very assertive. I do have to say the malt is well done and I do get hints of maple.
A very pleasurable mouthfeel.
This is a solid brew for the autumn season and it’s very easy to drink.

Bottle. Reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma of raisins and nuts. Flavour is herbal and hoppy, malt and maple, sweet nutty finish.

Clear red amber beer, big aery off-white to yellow head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, caramel, sugary, honey, maple syrup, bit of exotic fruits. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sour start, sweet, caramel, citrus, honey touch, grassy bitterness, floral notes. Aftertaste: bitter, little soapy, citrus, exotic fruity, very hoppy and bitter ending.

Bottle. A slightly hazy amber colored beer with a dense, light beige to off-white head leaving some lacings. The aroma is caramel-ish and lightly bready and nutty, with a nice piney and citrus peel-ish hoppyness. It’s full-bodied and lightly warming, with a nice carbonation level. The flavor is quite bitter, the hops overpowering the malty sweetness. Pine cones, hazelnut, some bread and caramel too. Lasting bitter finish with a lot of maltyness but it’s far from cloying. Pours slightly hazy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, nuts, orange, citrus, peach and hint of pine. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long fruity, bitter, nutty and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle at home from cotteridge wines. Nice bright amber / red coloured pour with a lasting fairly loose off white head. Aroma is semi-sweet, candied pine hop, light touch of orange, marmelade and toast. Flavour is toast, nuts, pine, twigs. Semi-harsh earthy pine hop bitterness. I don’t get much mapel flavour, some unrefined sugars. Palate is crisp, semi-sweet. Well integrated. Good beer.

God duft av honning, sammen med krydder og frukter. Dunkel brun farge. Tynn hinne brunt skum. Frisk smak av honning og krydder med en nydelig sødme i ettersmaken. Lettdrukket og god. Nydelig øl i sommervarmen.

I poured this into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice red to brown color with a nice one finger white foamy head that lasts for a good minute and leaves some nice adequate somewhat clingy lacing.
The smell was basically caramel malts with a decent roastiness running about it and does eventually add a decent maple aroma to come out and make it feel like Autumn.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and bundled it up into a nicely packed flavoring. The only thing I got in the aftertaste was a somewhat caramel flavoring there and there was a quick dry finish.
On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionable aspect to it, but still has a decent carbonation that is good for the style and for me.
Overall, I say this was a nice American Amber/Red ale that one can have in Autumn. I’ll make sure to have this again next Autumn.

Bottle from Zly Casy Beershop. Pours ruby amber with a creamy head and lacings. Caramel, bread, nuts, vanilla and hints of maple syrup and dusty peachy hops. Smooth and dry. Bitter finish.
