9.5% bottle version. Pours black with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong cinnamon, cocoa, roast, maple. Slick body, licorice, maple, cinnamon, boozy finish, good.

Can from 8 Degrees Plato. Pours a pitch black with a small brown head. Big cinnamon forward nose with vanilla, kitkats, dark chocolate and maple syrup aromas. Bitter coffee and roasted malt on the palate, some prune and date notes as it warms. Lingering maple syrup, roasted malt and prune flavors. Nice stuff.

Poured from a 500ml bottle. Aroma is cheap cinammon, vanilla extract and some light maple notes. Moderate chocolate and roast. Some anise and weird phenolics. Some light lactose note. Pours jet black with a medium sized, thick, light mocha head that recedes to a thin film that lingers. Light lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with moderately strong cinnamon notes. Quite a big of roast with some lighter dark chocolate notes. Fairly bitter and slightly astringent. Light vanilla and pretty much zero maple. A light phenolic, spicy, anise note. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Medium low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, I’m not impressed by this beer. So much cheap cinnamon and roasted malt character. Dry, thin and slightly astringent. It’s a miracle I am finishing this glass.

Sample at Giant Eagle Market District Grandview during the "CCBW Kickoff Party VIP Tasting" on 05/13/2016. The beer is a brown-black color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, cinnamon and slight coffee. Medium to full body with a cinnamon waffle flavor and roasty malt in the background. The finish is sweet with a cinnamon and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.
