12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 5/10/2012. Pours lightly cloudy reddish orange color with a nice 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big cherry, raisin, prune, fig, caramel, molasses, toast, banana, light clove, bread, earth, and light herbal spiciness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of maltiness. Taste of cherry, raisin, molasses, caramel, toast, fig, bread, herbal, clove, earth, and banana. No bitterness at all on the finish; with lingering notes of cherry, dark fruits, molasses, caramel, toast, banana, light clove, bread, earth, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of malty flavors; with zero cloying sweetness present on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy and very slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Definitely a sipper at 11.1%. Overall this is a very nice English Barleywine style. Very nice flavor complexity and balance of malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. I enjoyed this much more than my first rating; not sure what went wrong with that bottle.

12fl. oz. Clear brown colour with minimal beige head. Aroma is malty, caramel, bready. Flavor has toffee notes, plumbacke, bready, caramel. The final is moderate alcoholic but really the content of alcohol is priceless and hidden by caramel and barley malts notes. Carbonation is low. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines and Sprits, Birmingham. Clear golden pour. Nice yeasty rich aroma which follows into a rich fruity alcoholic flavour. A lovely beer, but too expensive by the time it reaches Europe. There are many Dutch and Belgian ales that are too similar and for half the price. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a 355ml bottle on 1/10/2012. Pours a cloudy light amber with a small head which disappears quickly. Has a quite a big malty aroma, with lots of caramel, toffee and a touch of fruit. In the mouth, itโs very sweet, with caramel at the fore, along with toffee, butterscotch and fig. The hops are muted and the alcohol quite prominent. It has a quite oily texture and fairly modest carbonation, as youโd expect given the style. Quite enjoyable but fairly straight forward. There are definitely better barley wines out there.

Bottle 13C. Amber with a small beige head. Some particles. Aroma of toffee, sherry, raisins, dried figs, dates, ginger. Syrupy. Sweet with toffee and lots of dried fruit. Some oxidised flavours and leather. Low carbonation. Boozy, but the alcohol is well-integrated - no heat at the finish. Spicy bitterness tames the sweetness somewhat. A lot thatโs good about it, but the overt yeastiness doesnโt belong and muddles things. Maybe not the best bottle.
