Smoked Porter. Pours a deep brown in colour with a tan head. The smokiness of the peated malts is matched by a smooth taste of toffee, caramel and dark fruits.

500ml bottle. Darkest brown, quasi black colour with average to huge, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Roasty and slightly smoky dark malty aroma, hints of ham and ashes. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, slightly smoky, a touch of malt lozenge, subtle malt sweetness, a mineral touch.

50cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - opaque brown to black with a nice fawn head. Nose - smoked peat with some earthy chocolate notes. The combination goes down the charcoal route. Taste - creamy, smoky & earthy. Just a little toffee that comes round more as the glass goes down. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly fresh finish considering the style. Overall - yep, does the trick!

Dark brown color, small steady beige head. Milky, coffeish, toasted aroma. Medium-bodied. Toasted, lactic flavor. Some chocolate, quite low on bitterness. Aftertaste has nice dark milk chocolate flavor. Nice, a bit different Thornbridge maybe.

(Keg at William K. Kurvi, 20131203) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and creaminess. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, chocolate, hops, coffee and bitterness. Afteraste had roastedness, coffee and bitterness. A nice balanced porter.

Draught @ Kittyโ€™s, Hki. Almost black in color, creamy, cappuchino head. Strong coffee, chocolate and roastedness in aroma. You get some hoppy notes at the first sip, with dark chocolate and cocoa. Roasted malty with some soury notes as well. Finish is dry. Medium bodied. Decent, on the thinner side perhaps.
