This beer is named after our good friend, Mr. Henrik Papsoe, who has reached 10,000 ratings this year at www.ratebeer.com. Mr. Papsoe reflects sweetness and those who have had the pleasure of meeting him have found to their cost that he is sweet, obliging, and solid, yet also complex. He is to be enjoyed in small quantities, but nevertheless his alcohol and generous nature is a delight to be warmed by. Even though Mr. Papsoe is soft, he can easily be aged. Due to long-time aging on barrels, Mr. Papsoe has notes of vanilla, bourbon, and wood. One of the ingredients is a special produced dark Muscovado syrup, which provides him with his full body and sweetness. If you have a sweet tooth that you happily fill with sweets, this beer is particularly well-suited. Well, actually we would claim that we have filled adult candy onto bottles.

#900 Rating (cheers Henrik !). Hazy brown color with a small tan head. sweet malty aroma, caramel, oak, vanilla,bourbon. Tastes of ripe fruit, caramel and raosted malt, bourbon, oak, vanilla. Great lasting aftertaste mostly from the barrell character. Lovely one.

250 ml bottle, as Amager Hr. Papsø Quadruple Aged on Bourbon Barrels, from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Batch #97, ABV is 12%. Cloudy dark brown colour, moderate to low beige head. Intense sweetish aroma of malt sugar, molasses, bourbon, vanilla and oak. The flavour is medium sweet, not as intensely sweet as I feared. Notes of oak, molasses, bourbon and vanilla again. Moderate hops. A decent dessert beer - well rounded, like Mr. Papsø himself .

Aroma has bourbon, vanilla and lots of wood. Flavour has lot of woody barrel and hardly nothing else. It is a bit syrup-like, which reminds me of an english barley wine. Also alcohol comes slightly through.

Süffiger Malzantrunk auf eher niedrigem Niveau. Feine Schokoladennoten sind vorhanden und weisen das Bier eine positive aber weiterhin zu milde Richtung. Im mittelteil hat das Bier einen Durchhänger, hier kommen kaum Aromen an. So ist die Malzigkeit auch im Abgang eher laff, das Bier somit eher langweilig. Ich habe mehr erwartet! 8/9/8/7/8/8

(Bottle, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen, summer 2009) Dark brownish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity, woody nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit, treacle, dried orange peel, vanilla and oak wood. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, molasses, dried fruit, treacle, vanilla and spices. A touch of warming alcohol mingles with bourbon wood in a vinous finish. Almost full body, fairly sweet, but excellently balanced. Lovely beer!

2/10 0.25 l bottle courtesy of Marko, huge thanks, also to Papsoe who gave it originally! It poured hazy dark brown body with big head that took ages to come down. Nice chocolate, dry fruity and caramel aroma, slightly strange sourish note that might be that bourbon, very nice anyway. Flavor was sweetish, wood and bourbon are now clearly felt, but chocolate and caramel dominate, along with balancing herbal and sourish notes.Alcohol is felt, but only a bit. Full in body with long sweetish finish, where wood from the barrels is felt the most. Slightly warming, but again nothing if you consider how high content is actually in game. I might have enormous expectations, so didn’t thrill me or impress me, but it’s definitely a great beer!

Batch No.97. Muddy brown coloured, creamy off white head that went away rapidly, caramel and bourbon in the nose with hint of alcohol. Roasted malt, woody and bourbon taste with notes of vanilla and chestnut. Well balanced beer, warming alcoholic and dry finish. Pitty it comes in such small bottles.
