A heavy, copper colored, bittersweet and extreme hopped beer.
Extase is a Double IPA with a blend of fourteen excellent hops, very intense and with a balanced character. The slight sweetness of the malt sugars and the alcohol complement the bitterness of the beer. Extase does up to its name with its extreme hoppiness (over 100 IBU). A beer with stratification: because of the diversity of hops the beer tastes something differently with the gradual warming by every sip. A delight for every ‘hophead’.

At a tasting, thanks Tom, medium stable bubbley head, a touch deep apricot orange colour, aroma of orange marmalade with touches of pine, some jam and biscuit. orange marmalade flavour with a biscuity backbone and some floral touches, strong pleasant bitterness. Good but a bit one dimensional and maybe just a touch over the hill.

330ml bottle. Clear copper colour with huge, frothy, long lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Intense malty and bitter hoppy aroma, resinous, sweaty - notes of biscuity caramel malt, fruity hints of grapefruit, pineapple. Taste is initially minimally sweet caramel malty with bitter hoppy counterweight, hints of grapefruit; lasting bitter hoppy finish. Very intense, without overly specific notes.

Indeed intensively hopped, with a tardy aftertaste of aroma hops. Smooth malty backbone to carry the hoppiness. Nice one.

66cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Hazy orange colour, creamy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, blood orange, orange, some pine/spruce, light malty, light floral, sugar. Flavour is oranges, blood orange, grapefruit, citrus, some pine, light malty, sugary orange and grapefruit, firm bitter finish. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation. It’s quite good, but the sugary orange flavour becomes a bit cloying towards the end of the bottle.
