When we began to think about a series of bolder beers with higher alcohol content we wanted to elucidate it to our consumers. Therefore, we call this series of beer Thurbo. Our neighboring village is called Turbo and we chose to go with the old spelling of that village. We’ve used big amounts of munchener malt that contributes with a malt sweetness and a touch of biscuitness. The residual sweetness takes the edges of the high alcohol content and the bitterness. The hop varieties lend a mixed bag of grape and citrus with slight herbal elements.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 22A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: very nice hop aroma with notes of pineapple and a very mild pine presence. Faint background of slight sweet malt. APPEARANCE: golden color and translucent. average ivory and moussy head with average retention. TASTE: flavour similar to the aroma (pineapple, with a stronger pine note) and stronger sweet malty character. high bitterness that lingers well beyond a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium body although there is a slight velvety presence and alcohol warmth. no astringency. OVERALL: a very good and complex Double IPA, with many characteristics to fill the senses.

Dark golden color with a white head with nice lacework and good lasting. Aroma has notes of light caramel, hoppy hints and good maltiness. Flavor has a good bitterness, fruity notes, mainly grapefruit and some peaches hints. Bittery final with good duration.
