This black India Pale Ale is loaded with hops and balanced with delicious maltiness. It was brewed with our friends from the great city of New Orleans, the band EYEHATEGOD.

Aroma is bready with rye, some bready notes, cocoa, vanilla and hints of berries. Starts to feel a bit harsh at the end of the glass. Flavour has resiny hops, some nettles, ash, cocoa and woody notes. Creamy palate. Nice.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed medium brown hued body with a small tan head. Not quite as dark as I was expecting from a black IPA. Flavors are hoppy: herbal, spicy with some citrus and grass hop notes as well. Medium malt, brown sugar. Flavors are spicy, and herbal hoppy components, medium citrus, brown sugar, kind of sweet. Medium to full bodied, lighter carbonation.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear dark brown with a creamy, beige head. The hops in the nose are a little....agressive and herbal, more than fresh and cleansing. Medium body, subtle roast, very herbal and perfumy hops leading to a bitter finish. 270413

22 oz. bottle, sent from StFun (thanks a lot, Josh), pours a deep dark brown / near-black with an amber tinge and a medium beige head. Aroma of rich toasted malts, a little roast, and some dry earthy, piney hops. Flavour brings out very dry earthy hops, toasted malt, slight roast, and more earthy hops. Exceedingly well-balanced, with a super dry mouthfeel, leaving a lingering finish of dry earthy hops and rich toasted malt. A remarkably-constructed black IPA that it was too easy to drink -- without any of the harshness that many black IPAs have, yet full of flavour. Awesome stuff.
