Bourbon Barrel Aged
Sitting in a bourbon barrel for a year has given the Gladstone Black Braggot a deep, dark body and imparted a sweet, smoky aroma. The first thing you’ll notice when you take a sip of is that the sweet aroma carries over quite strongly and honey flavour is very apparent. But instead of stealing the show it is complimented by dry Black Malt, roasty chocolate malt and a dash of lightly bitter Magnum hops. The second thing you’ll notice is that you’re a bit warmer, which is due to the 11.5% alcohol content.

Mooch tasting at Matt’s
Dark brown color with some bubbles, barely any head. Very nice aroma, caramelized sugars, light vanilla, some alcohol. Nice flavor of dark carMel, dark malts, with fruity esters, and alcohol warmth.
Not too deep, but very nice.

Bottle - Dark malts, toffee and some cola notes. Deep brown with a small light brown head. Dark malts, molasses and sweet. Balanced barrel and bourbon notes. Big, sweet and nice.

Dark brown. Not much head. This has a lot of bourbon aroma, with some sticky black sugars. Kind of fizzy, then fading into a soft brown sugar palate, getting almost sticky in the end. The taste is mostly bourbon, maybe some malt, more of those sugars. Not a lot of complexity...mellow mead, clean and dark sugar...rounded by bourbon but yeah, wishing for more complexity.

750mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of bourbon barrels, cola, roasted malt, molasses, and brown sugar. Flavour is very rich and sweet, with tons of bourbon barrels, molasses, brown sugar, and treacle. The honey is masked as a miscellaneous decadent sweetness that blends wonderfully with the other elements. Rich, wonderfully calibrated and a lovely sipper. Excellent.
