Corked bottle. Dark brown color Floral hops, red fruit and a hint of rye in the aroma. Full bodied. Grainy sweet flavor with red fruit, rye bread. The alcohol is pretty well hidden, still a powerful beer.

Aus der Flasche (Vintage 2013) im 2014-05 getrunken. Roggenanteil im Bier kann oft sehr anstrengend werden, doch hier haben die De Struise Brouwers einen guten Job gemacht und ein großes, sehr gut balanciertes Bier hergestellt. Zudem kommt der wunderbare Einfluß des Faßreifung in einem Bourbon Barrel dazu - tolles Spitzenbier!

750ml bottle [Thanks David for keeping me in mind on your Brugge trip!]. Brown colour with deep ruby glimmer and small to average, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, beige head. Fruity aroma, notes of cherry, dried fruit, raisin, dried banana. fig, date. Taste is fruity and minimally spicy, some rye spiciness, notes of cherry and a cornucopia of dried fruit, raisin, banana, fig, date, apricot. Very rich, harmonious and balanced, well hidden alcohol.

Nice slightly bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, candied sugar, grass, almond pudding, hay, rye, cherry stones, dried fruits, alcohol, dried fruits.Taste is slightly dry fruity, wet grass, bark, sap, cherry stones, almond essence, minerals, alcohol, candied sugar, rye. Medium bitterness, slightly harsh mouthfeel. Fair enough.

On tap at The Sovereign DC pours an amber brown with some white head. Nose is interesting, there’s a bit of boozy sweetness that you expect from a tripel, but a graininess too, some cherry/berry, a little almond, some marzipan. Flavor has some more raisn/berry thing, booze, tropical fruit, chewy grains including rye, candy sugar. Full bodied finish. An interesting take.

Continuation of the Westoek series, with a thin, off-white head and deep amber colour. Complex, vinous aroma of red apple, amaretto, cognac, honey, caramel, peach, pepper; fruit sweet onset, applish with a citrus peel touch, yeasty, bready, creamy and smooth mouthfeel, complex, soft carbonation, caramel maltiness with a mild but complex hoppy finish.
