Das Bier is the name we have given our Kölsch-style ale. As usual with we try to stay as close as possible to what a traditional Kölsch is supposed to taste like, although it is our interpretation of the classic style. Bright and clean, Das Bier is perfect for those hot Oregon days. It has a crisp malt character with a touch of hop bitterness. 5.1% ABV, 25 IBU, 4 SRM

Pint can pours with a somewhat hazy pale gold colored body that supports a thin white head of foam. The aroma offers up a bit of cracker malts giving way to some pear and apple like fruity esters and then some spicy to vaguely earthy hops. The taste delivers an initial thin malty cracker note flowing into an increasing load of sweet pear and apple like esters. To midway a modest degree of spicy hop bubbles to the surface. This is a tasty beer but kind of on the heavy and sweet side for a proper Kolsch.

Bottle from Cap Tap. Pours bright gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is bready with a hint of citrus. Med body or nearly. Flavor is bready with some citrus notes. Might be a touch of Saaz. It's not entirely dry, and it is very lightly bitter. Good drink for a hot day.

Excellent Kolsch here. Poured from the bottle at Hop and Hound. A very cloudy golden orange pour. Thin fizz head. Very pleasant aroma here, semi sweet grain and a slight hint of banana bread. Such an easy drinker here, and delicious, so it's an ideal Kolsch. A bit of a juicier body than most I've had. Hints of a tropical like fruit, and a banana bread like subtle malt finish. Very refreshing. Hits the spot on a sun soaked day like today. Yet another unique and exceptionally good brew from these guys.
