(On draught at Bryden’s, Toronto ON, June 14th 2013) Pours a very cloudy yellow with a fluffy/ white head that didn’t last. Aroma has fairly restrained citrus hops that weren’t particularly bitter/pithy (NZ style) and a little fruit over top of a strong core of banana, a bit of clove, herbal notes and some wheat malt. Hopping doesn’t over-power the hefe character. On the palate there is some bright citrus and tropical fruit juiciness to augment the yeast, banana, wheat, bubblegum and spice of the hefe. Moderately sweet to start, but a decent bitterness for the style builds and it finishes dry with hops and powdery yeast. Medium body, fairly heavy prickly carb but fairlly on-style. Good weizen with the hop character adding to the experience without overpowering it.

Bouteille 600ml. De couleur dorée foncée et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (bananes, moyen d’agrumes, traces de mangues) et épicées (clou de girofle, traces de poivre), de gomme balloune, moyen de blé, moyen-léger de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) aux notes citriques (citronnées) avec des traces de pain. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture aux notes crémeuses. Goût de levures fruitées (agrumes, moyen de bananes) et moyennement épicées (clou de girofle, léger de poivre) avec des petites notes de gomme balloune et de houblon herbeux lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de blé avec des traces de pain. Parallèlement, l’amertume de houblon se développe pour devenir plutôt moyenne, avec un caractère plus herbeux et légèrement citrique (zeste d’agrumes) jusqu’en finale. Post-goût moyen, léger-moyen amer de houblon herbeux avec un goût de levures fruitées (zeste d’agrumes, moyen de pelures de bananes) et légèrement épicées (poivre doux) ainsi qu’avec des traces de blé.

A hazed murky blonde to yellow weizen with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, nice fruity banana and cloves, talcum, and spices. In mouth, a nice banana malt with silky mouthfeel, Belgian hops, nice and bitter, cloves, well done.
