This Jolly fella is from BC, but tells a story of crystal malt and mischief had with a hoppy young German girl called Hallertau Blanc. It ain’t hard to love the malty, world travelling, lemon grass and tropical flavours in this jovial Jolly Beggar. Come dance with us, come sing along, splash beer upon the table. The Jolly Beggar wants you to revel in the raptures.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy dark shade of blond. Very bland aroma. The mouthfeel is rather dry but not weak; small presence of malt, and balanced bitterness, lightly earthy, but really without much quality.
Clean. Simple but ok Pale Ale.

On tap at Victoria Caledonian Brewery & Distillery, pours brings a cloudy golden yellow with a large white head. Aroma is fairly hoppy for a saison, with rustic farmhouse notes, some citrus and cereal malts with a touch of residual sweetness. Flavour is fairly authentic, with that rustic saison quality upfront, followed by sweet cereal malt and a decent amount of stone fruity hoppiness. A little sweet for my taste for a saison, but it's very competently brewed. Solid.

Draft - Pale malts and some bready notes. Clear gold with a decent white head. Bready and some pale malts. Very English no real hop presence, easy drinking and a bit plain.
