Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy amber color. Vegetable soup, tea, metallic aroma, lentils. Metallic flavor, some malt, ordinary bitterness, maybe cedar, and too much yeast.
No idea what they were looking for, but this is not that good.

Colour is amber. Aroma has a light cedary with needles, and with a fair bit of bitterness. Has a nice cedary character. So it’s pretty nice character, actually. One of the best beers Townsite has done - I’m liking the cedar character, which is dominant, but also the underlying malts.

Bottle - Lots of Woody cedar. Cloudy orange with a decent white head. Spicy Woody cedar notes with a long finish. Lots of wood.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of spicy cedar notes upfront, followed by some skunky vegetal notes that seem to be imparted from the cedar. Flavour is huge on the cedar, followed by pine and dry biscuity malt. Dominated by the cedar. Not overly well-made, but it's inoffensive. Meh.
