This massive Double IPA is big enough to be called a Triple IPA. We had to fill the mash tun with grain three times to get enough sugar into this bad boy. The repeated brewing to get it right nearly killed both Jerry and Adam, but resulted in one potent beer. The final gravity is the same as the original gravity on So Single It’s Half. Lots and lots of malt was used to build enough backbone to hold up the true feature: the hops. Bittered with Zythos and flavored and dry-hopped with Falconer’s Flight, the bitterness is enough to flatten even the most seasoned hophead. We used nearly 4 pounds of hops per barrel of beer! The prominent flavors are fruits of all kinds (tropical, citrus, apple, cherry, etc.), a little pine-y touch, and hints of toffee and caramel. The high alcohol is also very noticeable. There is a good burn to accompany the smoothness.

On tap at Beer Temple. Slightly hazy golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of lots of sweet malts, candy, loads of booze, peach and apricot. Flavour is caramel, apricots, candy, sweet malts, loads of booze again. Fullbodied, sticky, but way too hot and sweet. And where are the hops?

On tap. Hazy reddish amber with an off-white head. Fat spicy and caramellish nose. Very rich body, carbonation is a little low, spicy, syrupy, somewhat oxidized, distinctly hoppy but the bitterness is somewhat drowned underneath the syrupy sweetness. Sort of a borderline Barleywine and quite enjoyable. 121212

Draft. An amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, alcohol, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, sirup, malt, alcohol, and fruits, as well as a bit of dust, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. The body is powerful.
