Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Discreta, ma niente di eccezionale.

NBD, New York 330ml ($3): Oh, I love New Beer Distributors because this is half the price of anywhere else. In any case, it pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma is smoked malt, a teeny bit of meat, and some wood. The taste is sweet and smoked as a beer like this ought to be. I suppose it is not quite smoked enough for my taste, and, in a sense, there is not too much going on in this beer aside of the smoke. Well, I guess there is a bit of bitterness as well. It is not bad, but a bit one-dimensional.

33 cl. bottle @ home // purchased @ Hopduvel // reddish copper brown with a decent lightly tanned head // smells of sweet bamberg malts, twigs, mellow smoke, toffee and caramel sweetness, lightly meaty // taste of sweet smoke, bamrberg malt, toffee, caramel, twigs, some sugar, sweetish meat, light beef jerky, light bitter back, touch sweet spice // mellow, smooth, softer carb. // quite mellow and sweet but far from bad // highly sessionable , could drink the hell of this // not as good but clearly aiming towards the german originals

2012-11-06, draught at La Fine Mousse, Paris, 7% ABV, 7-5-7-4-15=38
Dark amber color with red light, hazy; compact head. Nice smoke aroma, sweeter and more malty that other Rauchbier, wild fur, cereals; no wood or campfire. Good mix of flavors: malt, roasted malt, smoked malt; and quite strong bitterness too. Very good.

2011-11-23, bottle at Brewberry, Paris, 6.2% ABV, 7-5-7-4-15=38
Red-amber color, medium sized head. Delicate smoke aroma, woodfire. Dry mouthfeel, caramelly flavor, with nice smoke touch, and some more caramelized sugars in the end. Well brewed.

11.16 oz bottle. Pours cloudy brown with orange highlights and a medium beige head that collapses into a skiff of foam. Aroma consists of smoked meats, campfire smoke. Taste is sweet, meaty and smoky with a bitter finish. Body is a little on the thin side, but I like the creamy mouthfeel. A fine rauchbier that rivals the beers of Bamberg.

33cl bottle at Amundsen. Pours dark amber with a small off-white head. Lightly smoky aroma with malt and caramel and hints of wood. Sweet and malty with a smoky and lightly dry and lightly bitter finish. Quite nice, but a tad too sweet for my taste. (2012-06-29)

Bottle shared at the 18th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a slighty hazy amber color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of smoke, nuts, raw malt and tea. The taste is smoke, caramel, tinny hops, nuts and citrus. Medium bodied, low carbonation.
