A true smooth and creamy stout with a sweet difference. The chocolate flavours are balanced by the addition of vanilla extract.

On tap at the Bow Bar. Appearance - opaque black with just the slightest orange chink in the bottom of the glass. Nose - cocoa and liquorice with a chocolate biscuit thing lingering in the background. Taste - sorry but I get cardboard. Then some malt creeping through but it’s like a corked wine. Palate - light to medium bodied with a dry texture and a long dry finish. Overall - this is from a fine ale pub so the fault must be with the beer not good.

Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2013. Before I say anything else... let me say this was GOOD! Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly light tan head. The aroma is unsurprisingly chocolate and vanilla with some roasted malt. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a weak bodied slightly watery palate and weak bitter finish. This beer delivers up front and it’s oh so good but needs more in the body and a longer finish.

Hand-pulled half-pint during the 35th Telford Beer festival: The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Good, dark looking brew: black with a tanned head. The aroma and taste were very chocolate and vanilla in nature: an ’after eight’ mint sort of feel but without the mint bit! Really took to this: I like the sweeter brews and this was right up my street: rich, creamy and true to it’s name. Also tried in bottle form on 2nd June 2026.

Cask @ gbbf, tiny sample. Aroma of some roasted and chocolatey malts with a thick blanket of vanilla on top. Fairly dry in taste, could have used some more sweetness. Think score would go down like the Titanic when drinking a larger sample ...

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Heavy malty and light hoppy aroma. Storng chocolate notes. Light sweeet and bitter chocolate flavor. Average light bitter finish. Watery palate. Totally unharmonic beer.

Appearance of black coffee. Has a pleasant, warming vanilla aroma. Flavour is quite stale. The choc/cocoa and roasted malt bitterness is there but doesn’t go so well with the vanilla which is maybe a bit overpowering.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 15/09/12. Very dark brown approaching black with a thin tan head. Rich chocolate aroma with a good pinch of vanilla, malts, a little dark fruit and light coffee tones. Taste pretty much matches nose. Medium bodied, a little on the wet side with fruit tones in the finish.

Smaczny stout z nutą gożkiej czekolady i wanilli. Ciemny kolor, gożkawy i palony finisz. Kolor intensywnie czarny, piana spora i pozostawiająca wąsy na szklance
