Light gold in colour, bursting with citrus and tropical hop flavours and sensationally refreshing. The original UK Citra. In 2009 on his annual hop sourcing visit to the USA, Oakham's Brewing Director John Bryan discovered an exceptional new hop variety - Citra. He rushed it to the UK, ensuring that Oakham Ales were the first UK brewery to brew a beer with 100% Citra hops and maintaining Oakham's reputation for pioneering innovation. ABV: 4.2% in cask, 4.6% in bottle.

A blonde ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice fruity caramel malt with light herbal hops, lightly citrusy, and light tropical fruit. In mouth, a refreshing ale with caramel malt, citrusy hops, light butterscotch, decent. Bottle from lcbo.

500ml bottle from B&M Bargains - Very clear straw yellow body, with a quickly disappearing small head. Typical Citra grapefruit hop aroma, but not overpowering. Quite sweet on the taste at first, followed by the hop and a refreshing bitterness on the finish. Good summer drinking beer.

Single bottle from the LCBO with a Best before date of 17 DEC 2014. Pours a pale golden colour with a white frothy head, decent retention and some foamy lacing. Aromas of real fresh hops at first and then the characteristics of Citra come out: mild grapefruit with lots of exotic fruits. The taste is not as bitter as IPAs, but a nice dryness making it still refreshing. Again, the grapefruit is mild with the other fruits balancing things. Light grain appears in the background with the notes of bitterness lingering. This is quite a nice easy-going ale with some nicely blended hops to it. I am a fan of Citra (the beer and the hops themselves).

Bottle: Poured a super light yellow color ale with a nice pure white foamy head with good retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of Citra hops with green hoppy notes with some lemongrass notes and some weird grainy notes which don’t really fit that well. Taste is dominated by hoppy notes with some lemongrass and grapefruit and some weird grainy malt notes that more or less fits in the whole picture. Body is light with good carbonation. Well done even though I really don’t dig the malt profile.

From a 500ml bottle on 21/4/2014. Pours a clear light pale golden with a smallish head. Has a distinct, pleasant zesty, citrus aroma. In the mouth, it features grassy malt, lots of grapefruit, lemon, lemongrass, and just the barest hint of pepper. The bitterness is firm and a touch sour. Has a light body and average to lively carbonation. All up, this is a really refreshing drop, with lots of personality, while being very sessionable at just 4.6%. A very nice brew indeed.

Flaske fra Waitrose, Muswell Hill, april-14: klar lys kobberfarge med kort skum. Deilig aroma av citrus avrundet med ferskensødme, og slik smaker det også. Glir sorgløst over ganen mens kofferten pakkes for hjemreise. Engelske bryggere kan kunsten å gi mye smak og drikkeglede til relativt alkoholsvake øl. Frisk og syrlig med snev av nevnte sødme. Og ingenting å si på prisen: £2 for 0,5 l flaske. Prøver gjerne mer fra dette bryggeriet. Good stuff! Et kjærkomment gjensyn på Mandag i annen, okt-14: minst like god soim sist! Appelsin og stikkelsbær i nese og gane. Deilig ettersmak.Opp fra 3.3 til 3.5.

Cask @ Hopbine, Cambridge. Pours yellow, almost straw. Little head and no lacing. Heady aroma of pineapple and resinous hop. Taste is quite bitter, but balanced and refreshing. Flavours come through well in the taste. Aftertaste is a bit soapy. A very solid beer from Oakham.

I could smash this bad boy all night long. It looks like an insipid beer at first glancebut the aroma is pleasant, combining citrus, dirt, smoke and a little marshmallow. The taste is predominantly hops. It wouldn’t hurt to give it a little more malt, but it is very sessionable.

500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a very clear, very pale gold with a small white head that fades quickly. Nose is big floral and citrus. Good bitterness throughout with grapefruit and some berry dominant. Mouth is a bit thin and carbonation is a bit soft. Long bitter finish. Drinks more like a session.
