cant put in words whats ’ wrong ’ ( less right) with it, but i’m not to crazy about this one. i think black albert itself is way better than this... its good but i’ve tasted it multiple times and im just not convinced ( yet? )

Puchased from the Struise shop in Brugge July ’12 - 2nd last bottle they had! Drank at home 04/08/12. Poured into a snifter to a rich black colour with a tan head that soon gives way. Smells of dark fruit and liqourice, sugars and roasted malt. Tastes of dark fruits, roasted malts, aniseed, burnt sugar and the port definately comes across. Maybe the only let down for me is the carbonation level which seemed just a little too high. Great beer and would revisit given the chance!

Bottle @ Kulminator, Antwerp. Black with a big dark brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, coffee and light chocolate. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Dry and roasted rather bitter inish. Oily. 240712

Bottle sample at an Imperial Stout tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks Nimrod. Black with a lovely brown head. Somewhat boozy aroma with dark chocolate, fruits, wood, soy sauce and some port. Sweet flavor with dark chocolate, a bit of cocoa beans, some fruitiness, wood and a light alcohol burn in a slightly drier finish. Full-bodied. Great.

Huge, dark brown head; pitch-black beer. Sweet, roasted & burnt nose, coffee. Coffee, very burnt, but always with a sweet, moccha-like or even toffee-like backing. Liquorice, and a bit of pure cacao powder. Very well-bodied, very slick, alcoholheating. Rather typical IS, sweet, but with a streak of neutral to roasted character. Not really outstanding.

Dark brown to black beer, big brown head, very stable and adhesive. Aroma: red wine, alcohol, very sugary, dried fruits, bit earthy, overall sweet experience in the nose. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: sweet start, raisins, caramel, bit vinous, mocha, red sour berries, sugary, quite some alcohol noticeable, very spicy. Aftertaste: sweet caramel, mocha, sugary, vinous, hoppy bitterness, port, little sourish.

330 ml bottle bought @ Être Gourmet. Pours black with a creamy brownish white head that leaves some trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and tiny sour with dark grapes, port wine, roasted malts, vanilla, raisins, alcohol, milk chocolate, orange and lemon zest, freshly cut wood, unripe tropical fruits, leather, lemon grass, blueberry jam, blackberries, and very subtle hints of yeast and solvents. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny sour with roasted malts, bitter chocolate, dark grapes, bilberries, blackberries, grass, yeast, heavily roasted coffee, port wine, wood, vanilla, resin, orange zest, lemon peal, unripe peaches and mango, black cherries and hints of pine and lemon juice. Mouthfeel is vinous, smooth, tiny tart and full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, slightly bitter and tiny sour with roasted malts, coffee, wood, bilberries, plums, cherry pits, grass and pine. Bottle thanks big time to Dallas! Pours a very dark brown color with a medium brown head. A sweet nose of big port and heavy roasted malts. The flavor is very good: dry and dusty; rich sweet sugary and almost tart port barrel; earthy; dry fruit; very mellow but robust. No alcohol besides a bit o’ warmth. Good. I’ve been disappointed by blends but this was good.

33 cl. bottle @ home / purchased @ Sruise store in Bruges: black with a real mocha, coffee head, that is one lovely head / smells like chocolate, mocha, barrel, porto, touch berries / taste is very creamy, plenty of vanilla mocha, chocolate, ice-cream, dark fruits, followed by barrel, porto, touch porto, hint sour berries / excellent basebeer or just “beer” because this is close to BD XI in terms of deliciousness, this is a lovely beer, could use more love
