Cask, småbryggeriernas beer festival, Malmö. I am not a big fan of smoked beers but I love Ilsay whiskey so I’m not all together consistent. This has enough peated with a whiskey character to win me over. Massive smoke both on the nose and in the mouth. Sweetness from the malts, peat, vanilla, smoked wood but a small glas is enough for me.

Tap @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm. This is a deep brownish beer with a nice lasting and creamy light beige head. The aroma is peaty and light roasted. Smoky and beefy with hints of pine. Nice and peaty. It has the strangest mouthfeel I've ever had in a beer. It's really creamy and thick as few other beer, but still fluffy and light as air. No idea what to think of it! Flavors are really peaty but it also has a sourness that cuts through the smokiness. To be honest I'm not sure if it is supposed to be here, but it suits the strange mouthfeel quite nicely. Ends more peaty than smoky, with a lasting sour almost brett-hint mixed with some licorice in the aftertaste. Well, I'm not 100% convinced but it's undoubtedly a solid smoked.

Draught @ The Rover on October 31. Pours deep copper brown with a thick rustcoloured head. Smell is slightly sweet with wood, smoke, juniper berries, tar, whisky and some alcohol. Taste is sweet and malty with smoke, wood, vanilla and some sour hints. Finish is dry and bitter. Really nice for a smoked beer.

Dark brown beer with an amber hue and beige head. Aroma has lots and lots of smoke. Some malts and milk chocolate. Flavour of wood, flagrant juniper wood. Smoke and some light sweetness. Finish rather like whisky, sweet and a hint of salt. Very nice.

Sampled at Borefts Beer Festival @ De Molen, Bodegraven. Nice dark red color, off-whie head. Smell smoke, bacon, way too much smoke! Taste overwhelming smoke as well, also some bacon and sourness. Decent carbonation, medium body. Not my beer, the smoke is just too much for me.
