When we got our hands on four freshly emptied rye whiskey barrels from Heaven Hills Distillery we knew exactly what to do with them; fill them with our Ginger Rye Pale Ale and create a Whiskey Ginger! All of the flavors of the Ginger Rye are still there, yet the oak has rounded out and softened its edges. Aged for four months, the barrels sheen & char have lent the distinct warming sensation of whiskey to create a truly unique beer.

Draught at Hops ’n Headz, Bellingham, WA
Cloudy golden color. Ginger beer, the finger being evident, semi-sweet, and a bit soapy, maybe spicy for the rye. Why would you barrel-age such thing???
Heavy to drink.

On tap at Aslan, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out a good mix of whiskey and ginger. Flavour is dominated by the ginger, but not in an abrasive way, with subtle whiskey notes to smooth things out. A reasonably potent ginger bomb. Pretty solid.

Draft - Sweet ginger with a touch of heat. Clear gold with a decent white head. Lots of ginger, bit of oaky raw bitterness and heat. Ginger overpowers.
