Yukon Brewing Longest Night Black IPA

Longest Night Black IPA

Yukon Brewing in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada 🇨🇦

IPA - Black / Cascadian Dark Regular
Score
6.21
ABV: 6.0% IBU: - Ticks: 11
Longest Night is dark and malty, due to the generous use of both chocolate malt and black malt. And, let’s talk hops. Longest Night contains plenty of Millenium, Cascade, and Glacier hops used during the kettle boil. But, it also is dry-hopped with both Cascade and Millenium. Coming in at 6.0% abv, full of both malt and hop flavours, and with plenty of hop bitterness, this is not the beer for the faint of heart. Nor is it a beer for procrastinators, as it will likely be gone by New Years. Come fill your growler now! Before it really is the longest night.

Bottle from the Craft Beer Advent Calendar
Dark brown color, small head. Nice caramel aroma, the flavor is weak, the caramel is a bit burnt, and there is not enough hopping to be called Black IPA. Cardboard too.
Boring.

341ml bottle from 2015 Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Pours a clear ruby brown with an average, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of chocolate malt, light roast, caramel and coffee. Sweet flavour of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, coffee, light pine and a hint of citrus with a bitter, slightly astringent, hoppy finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Not great, but ok.

2015 advent calendar. Hops are quite mild, not a lot to this beer, relatively thin on the body. Overall it is very drinkable but nothing special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

341mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out earthy hops and a touch of bready toasted malt. Flavour is very dull and earthy, with bready cardboard notes and very gentle hops. Man, what's the point of this? They're forgetting some actual ingredients besides water in here. Weak and boring.
