This is a fortified wine. The cacao extract is sweetened with pear juice then lightly fermented into a wine. Fermentation is then halted by the addition of Finnriver's custom-distilled apple brandy.

Wonderfully beautiful bottle. Pours a clear yellow golden color with thick legs. A big sweet sticky nose, some cacao. Huge boozy flavor, sweet pear, sticky, big chocolate slides in but overall it is sort of odd to me. Very hot. Pretty interesting.

Bottle from Doug. Sticky, sweet juicy perry. Fruity and sweet. Syrupy. Initial schnapps nose gives way to sweet juice flavors. Then alcohol heat kicks in...

Tall sexy bottle pours out a pear color no head. Nose is booze pear honey sweetness chocolate. Taste is more of the nice sweet pears hot booze wow.

Bottle - Lots of fruity sweetness and some acetone. Clear copper with no head. Sweet, bit of booze and caramel and lots of light coffee notes. Syrupy and sweet cocoa, very odd.

Medium rusty orange. Silky smooth and thick. Cacao, sweet fruit, pear liqueur, very sweet sugary finish but with lasting warm booze, too. Such a great sipper.

Sampled at Finnriver, pours a clear apple juice colour. Aroma brings out dry cacao nibs, along with pear liqueur and brandy. Flavour is insanely rich, with loads of cacao - wow, amazing. Elegant, complex, boozy and unbelievably drinkable. Amazing stuff.

Corked bottle at winery
Murky light brown color. Some cacao aroma, smells like an old grocery shop. Very sweet, with cacao light drink flavor. No pear, but some alcohol warmth.
Chocolate liquor. Weird.
