#MashTag was an epic experiment in crowdsourcing, which handed the keys to the brewery over to craft beer drinkers for a week. We asked you guys via Facebook and Twitter to direct all the elements of the brew and you decided to brew a 7.5% American Brown Ale with oak chips and hazelnuts.

Medium brown head. Clear deep dark ruby red body. Roasty earthy spicy minty aroma with chocolatey notes. Sweet-dryish earthy roasty taste with spicy minty vanilla notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft, rounded mouthfeel. Dryish resiny roasty licorice aftertaste with salty chocolate and earth notes. Background of vanilla, toffee, raisins and wild berries. Very complex and interesting, yet easy to drink. (0.33l bottle, Brewdog Manchester.)

Enjoyed at the 4de Gents Bierfestival, 2013. The 33cl bottle pours with a brown body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet cherries, brown sugar, spicy black licorice and sort of a light bacon smokiness. The taste comes across pretty smooth with sweet malts and sweet brown sugar coated cherries. Well behind those notes is a smooth subtle bacon infused smokiness and a touch of minerals. This has lots of rich flavors going on, pretty nice.
