Inspired by insomnia, the Kompaan 39 Bloedbroeder is a blackened imperial stout with an extra bloodtype: ruby port. Blood brothers: the strongest bonds that exist! This beer is brewed with a variety of malts (black and roasted) with little sweet notes, a bitter aftertaste, and at 9.1%, it has a light hoppiness. A beer to sit down with!

Vriend Cees W. zit hier tot aan z’n ellebogen financieel in, dus ik durf niks lelijks te zeggen. Prima imperial stout. Hel en verdoemenis niveau.

Spotty tan head on a dark oak coloured body. Bitter aroma. Medium to full bodied, oily & sticky with a clean back. Bitter, coffee, berry, tangy & roast tastes.

Pours hazy black with a quickly thinning, beige head. Aroma of plum, fig, milk chocolate, cream, vanilla, nuts. Taste has a chocolatey character filled with raisin, plum, fig, slighty creamy with a 'brown' bready maltiness, balanced by not too overpowering coffee bitterness. Dryish, earthy hoppy finish, lingering chocolate, coffee roast & very subtle dark fruits ending in warming port-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. 'Port profile' is present but you could expect even more with that in mind.

Pitch black with a red hue against the light, good frothy tan head, dissipates slowly, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malts, caramel, cocoa, liquorice. Taste light heavy sweet and medium bitter, roasted malts, dark chocolate, light liquorice. Light retronasal smokiness, smooth sweetbitter aftertaste, light chocolate, spicy notes. Medium body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation, rich and tasty, rather good.

33cl bottle from Beerwulf webshop. F: thin, dark tanned, quick gone. C: black, opaque. A: rich, dark malts, cocoa, chocolate, nutty, dark dried fruits, bit ash, coffee, bit vinous, complex. T: rich dark malty base, chocolate, cocoa, bit coffee roasted tones, caramel, nutty, bit banana, bit herbal, aroma is actually bit better than taste but still very solid for the style, lower carbonation, very enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Almost black, opague. Roasted malt. Hints of smoke and raisin in the aroma. Malty sweet, salty roasty flavor with hints of smoke and porto. Velvety mouthfeel. Pleasant full bodied imperial stout.
