Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, wooden notes, some vinous fruitiness, tobacco. Didn’t pick up on much of the Port. Flavour is moderate sweet with a medium bitter finish. Quite enjoyable Stout.

On tap at Kompaan Binnenhaven in the centre of Den Haag. Pours a deep black with a small beige head. Aromas & tastes of coffee & roasted malt. Medium body. Dry finish. Highly enjoyable

Tap at Arendsnest, Amsterdam: Very black brew with an nicely sweet start but very fast the beer becomes dry bitter. Hints of chocolate, coffee and candy. Very nice beer thought in The Hague and brewed in Belgium.

Dark, dark brown with a frothy, sudsy beige head. Big fudge aroma with a berry fruitiness balancing nicely alongside. Taste is bitter up front, faintly tart, then quite sweet at the back with lingering caramel that just avoids a cloying sort of feel. Body to the full side of medium, mild carbonation. Good overall balance. Not bad.

Zwart bier met bruine schuimkraag die snel wegzakt. Smaak is bitter en licht zoet met duidelijk iets van port, rook en wat koffie en donkere chocolade. Fijn bier.
